CUTTING

I receive emails just about every week from teenage girls who are engaging in ‘cutting’. Many who are reaching out because they so desperately want to stop; yet, still feel compelled to harm themselves. Afterward, they struggle with feelings of shame and guilt.

If this is you, or if you know someone who is ‘cutting’, I am here to tell you…you are LOVED, you are VALUABLE, and you are IRREPLACEABLE!

Have you embraced the lie from the enemy, as so many young girls have? It screams… “I am not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough or talented enough.” The relentless torment can go on and on.

The truth is; there is no one like you in the world; even your fingerprints are unique. When you grab hold of this truth; your life will be led in an entirely new direction.

You can decide to believe what God says about you, or to believe the lies of the enemy. The choice is yours.

Now is the time to STOP wasting your valuable day comparing yourself to other girls. This is a tactic from the enemy to keep you in bondage. It is time for you to embrace your uniqueness and break free from the limiting beliefs, which are holding you back from being your awesome self.

I realize for many, you may not have been raised in a nurturing home, where you were encouraged and supported. Nonetheless, I do know, you have a nurturing Heavenly Father who adores you and is for. If God is for you who can be against you. (Romans 8:31)

I challenge you for just a moment, to shut off the self-defeating, lying voices in your head, and focus on the facts: you are AMAZING and you are VALUABLE! You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. (Psalms 139:14)

Jesus died on the cross so you may be set free in all areas of your life. Jesus came so you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10)

You can overcome the destructive behavior of ‘cutting’! Begin by choosing to believe how wonderful you are. With God’s help all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)

You have control over your thoughts. Take captive every thought, which exalts itself against the word of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5). Your thoughts lead your actions.

Use your thoughts and actions to propel you forward, towards those things you desire in your life. Allow God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, to empower you to overcome the temptation to cut. “Submit yourself to God, resist the enemy and he will flee.” (James 4:7) What you say about yourself is important!
